The Best Thing that Could Happen to America...
Would be a bomb falling on Capital Hill. But I don't just want the politicians that are screwing things up to be present for it, I want the large amounts of news media voices and celebrities trying to play politician to be there as well. And that's for the left and the right.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm absolutely tired of the us vs. them mentality on both sides. If each side keeps viewing the other as the enemy, nothing is really ever going to get accomplished (except a whole lot of accusations and screaming back and forth). Yes, I believe there's truly evil liberals that would gladly see America (and the world) turned some sort of extremely socialist regime in which only a handful of people held all real power (much like George Orwell's "1984"). I also believe there's a select number of people on the political right that would gladly see all power in the hands of a few mega-corporations that run the world. And I'll be damned if both of those scenarios don't look like two sides of the same coin.
I'm tired of right-wing talk show hosts accusing liberals of being stupid just because they're liberals. And vice-versa. The majority of people with strong political beliefs* have reasons for them; and they're not stupid. They're conclusions people have come to based upon their knowledge and past experiences. Attacking someone with different views purely because they have different views is completely retarded. If that's going to be our mentality though, as seems to be the trend, me may as well split America up now into a few different countries. Then from there we can all just go to war with each other much like European countries of the Middle Ages.
I know me saying all this won't make me very popular. In fact, it seems one of the best ways to get popular these days is to claim you're allegiance to the right or left and then repeatedly bash the other side. And while I do think one of the best things that could happen to America would be the abolishment of all of our current government officers (and many of the offices), I do not actually wish them physical harm. I don't doubt many of them have just become caught up in the disgusting game of politics and aren't as horrible as their actions may lead one to believe. For all I know, they're just trying to make a paycheck and care for their family like most Americans (though I'd certainly prefer to have their paycheck to that of most Americans). However, I wouldn't lose a bit of sleep of the majority of media personalities and celebrities that constantly try to talk politics suddenly disappeared.
*I say "strong political beliefs" because I know there's a large amount of Americans (dare I say the majority of them) that don't have strong political beliefs. In fact they have very weak ones. And even worse, their political beliefs are the result of nothing more than how they were raided, what the the TV tells them to think/believe, or what they just seem to think is trendy. In my mind those people are the lowest of the low and an insult to humanity in general. I'm not saying everyone needs to be some sort of activist; but you should know what you believe and why.
