In a Way, I Envy Hemingway and London (and Those Like Them)

If you didn't know, the amazing authors Ernest Hemingway and Jack London were alcoholics. (If you didn't know those to guys were writers, please stop reading whichever Twilight(-type) book you have in your hand and head to your local bookstore to see what real literature is). They are far from the only great authors to be so, but they are also two of my favorites so they get used for this example. Both were known for writing while drunk. And they turned out some pretty damn good work from it (though I wouldn't be surprised if they wrote some some good stuff sober too).
Now I'm not saying I have any desire to be an alcoholic (certainly not with the cost of alcohol in Alaska), but I definitely envy the ability of these guys to write fiction while drunk. I often feel like writing when drinking, but after merely two glasses of wine (when I'm far from drunk, but still feeling a little something), I can hardly focus on the page long enough to put my name on it. These guys were writing novels that are nothing short of brilliance and all I can seem to manage is some sort of gibberish.
I'm of Irish descent and I can definitely hold my alcohol, but much like the Irish, it seems the most productivity I get out of being drunk is blowing a lot of hot air (though I might be slightly more productive if I had some potatoes to farm).
